"The Interview"

The Interview

So - you've stumbled onto another "newbie" blog.  Well, this blogger is so glad you did!  But I expect, that with this being the first blog in "Peace of Mind", I am at the mercy of your initial evaluation, like a short interview and I will need to catch you with my fancy words, terminology, ideas and presentation.  I will need to resonate with your own thoughts and spark an interest which ignites an opinion, creative thought or relatable experience. After all, isn't that why we read these things to begin with?

Interviews are typically arranged by the submission of a concise, professional resume followed by contact, and then results in a connection that focusses on a huge sell and a careful evaluation.  So, to that I will share my resume with you the reader, over a period of time. With ongoing writings and growing connections, the resume will show itself.  You have already fulfilled the "seek and contact" step and we know that connection with any writer typically occurs after 2 - 4 published readings. But you can rest assured,  my sell is simple.  I'm not selling.

In the interviews I conduct, I look for raw, personal and professional qualities where the "interviewee" does not make a hard sell.  They do not excitedly brag about all of their personal and professional accomplishments.  They do not "schmooze" and try to manipulate my thoughts with their highly intellectual vocabulary, industry "buzz words" and all the people they may know in the industry.  While some of these qualities are fantastic and important in some positions, they are not what I look for when I need someone who connects, speaks from the heart, questions ideas, are eager to learn and are highly empathetic.  I've discovered over the years that confidence, ambition and leadership DO happen readily in those who do not sell during that first interview.  The employer  reaps ongoing rewards by the "real" and "down to earth" confident leader it hires and huge growth with surprising ideas leading to solid growth is far more likely.

So, there is no sell here.  This is a blog filled with "raw" thoughts from learned and ongoing experience, education, continuing practiced leadership, love, wonder, courage and ambition.  It will tell of ideas, skepticism, family dynamics, social welfare, societal directions and yes, sometimes opinions on the unpopular conversations in life. Political views, while visited, will largely be on the "back burner" of this particular blog.  The writing will be simple. I have a very typical vocabulary, typical education and average writing skills with a fantastic range of opinions that may resonate, stir or make you wonder.  I am a self proclaimed "thinker" (aren't we all) who doesn't stick inside boxes, but rather explores random tangents - because that's where new ideas come from.  I will question what's already proven (which drives people nuts), if only for the purpose of looking for angles that could be explored further.  I recently explored a few buzzwords that are currently accepted by the norm and challenged their use...not too popular. If you're looking for popular, this is not the spot.   Blogs will be short and to the point.  I will openly encourage your ideas and opinions with respectful inclination and a purpose for mutual growth. Please know that as in most blogging sites, the general rules apply here.  Please search on "blogger" if you would like further information.

Well then, it's been great to connect with you.  Our initial interview is now complete.  I look forward to connecting and sharing with you very soon.  The topics will be random (random also ignites new ideas).  No selling... I promise.

...and that's todays "Peace of Thought"...
